Mexico’s President, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced on Friday that she will inaugurate the new equipment installed at the Veracruz customs facility.
During her morning press briefing, Sheinbaum detailed her upcoming visit to the state on Sunday, November 23, when she will also lead the commemoration of Navy Day. As part of the agenda, she plans to inaugurate the updated customs systems and a historical house linked to Benito Juárez.
“On Sunday we’re heading to Veracruz; it’s the anniversary of independence at sea, and we will inaugurate the new customs equipment in Veracruz—non-intrusive X-ray systems—and a house dedicated to Benito Juárez,” she said.
Members of the transportation sector have noted that the modernized customs facility will play a key role in streamlining cargo movement, thanks to more advanced technology for goods entering the port area. According to specialists, this investment is expected to reduce logistical times and costs once fully operational.
