Ebrard kicks off USMCA talks in Washington ahead of review

Mexico’s Economy Minister, Marcelo Ebrard, announced from Washington the start of bilateral meetings with U.S. officials as part of the lead-up to the review of the T-MEC.

In discussions with U.S. trade representative Jameson Greer, both sides agreed to direct their teams to explore strategies aimed at boosting manufacturing output and job creation across North America.

The talks will also address ways to tackle unfair trade practices within supply chains, alongside potential policy actions involving rules of origin and broader economic security cooperation.

These meetings mark the beginning of formal technical discussions ahead of the joint review scheduled for July 1. Both countries are expected to hold regular follow-up sessions to define key priorities in the coming months.
