At the start of 2026, Mexico’s heavy-duty vehicle industry experienced a notable slowdown in both production and exports compared to the same period in 2025. Data from the National Association of Bus, Truck and Tractor Manufacturers (ANPACT) showed that 6,793 units were produced in January — over 50 % less than a year earlier — and 5,076 units were exported, also down by more than half year-on-year.
Output continued to focus mainly on conventional cargo vehicles, as there were no electric or natural gas models produced or shipped in January.
Meanwhile, imports of used heavy-duty vehicles remained a notable factor: more than 26,000 used units entered the country in 2025, contributing to ongoing market dynamics and challenges for fleet renewal.
These early-year results suggest a period of adjustment for key performance indicators in Mexico’s heavy-truck sector as it compares to early 2025 figures.
