Mexico and Qatar Expand Trade and Investment Dialogue

Mexico and Qatar have agreed to strengthen bilateral ties with a focus on trade, investment, and institutional cooperation.

During the third round of bilateral consultations, officials from both countries reviewed opportunities to deepen economic and commercial relations while also exchanging views on international developments.

Mexico’s delegation was led by Foreign Secretary Roberto Velasco, while Qatar was represented by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to waive visa requirements for diplomatic, official, and special passport holders, along with a memorandum of understanding on diplomatic training and education.

The talks also covered investment opportunities and initiatives tied to the Qatar-Mexico 2026 Year of Culture.

For Mexico, the engagement with Qatar fits into a broader strategy of diversifying trade and investment relationships beyond its traditional markets. Mexico currently maintains a broad network of free trade and investment agreements with partners around the world.
