USMCA Review to Begin with Bilateral Talks Between Mexico and the United States

Mexico’s Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, announced that the formal review process of the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA) will begin on March 16 with an initial round of bilateral discussions between Mexico and the United States.

Speaking from Washington, Ebrard said the first meetings will take place with the U.S. Trade Representative’s office, led by Ambassador Jameson Greer. Canada is expected to join later as the review process moves into a trilateral phase.

Early discussions are expected to focus on key issues for the region, including rules of origin, supply chain security, and ways to deepen economic integration across North America.

According to U.S. trade officials, negotiators have been tasked with ensuring that the agreement continues to deliver benefits while also reducing reliance on imports from outside the region and strengthening regional supply chains.
