Mexico ranks ninth among the world’s honey exporters, accounting for 3.8% of global trade, according to figures from Mexico’s Economy Ministry and the International Trade Centre (ITC).
From 2021 through 2025, the country exported an annual average of 27,200 metric tons of honey, worth approximately $94 million. Shipments rose from 20,000 metric tons in 2024 to 26,000 in 2025, reaching buyers in 30 countries.
Germany and the United States remained the two largest markets for Mexican honey, together accounting for more than 63% of total export value in 2025. Other significant destinations included the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, Japan and Poland.
Domestic production also increased, reaching 60,297 metric tons in 2025. That was 5% higher than in 2024 and 11.4% above 2020 levels.
Yucatán was Mexico’s largest honey-producing state, followed by Chiapas, Jalisco, Campeche and Veracruz. More than 53,000 beekeepers participate in the industry, which continues to support regional economies while supplying a diversified international market.
