Freight carriers across Mexico are continuing their national strike on Tuesday, October 27, while industry representatives hold talks with the federal Interior Ministry.
HAMOTAC said demonstrations would resume from 7:00 a.m. at the same locations and continue without a fixed end time while carriers wait for a response from authorities.
The sector’s main demands include improved highway security, better road infrastructure, and action on fees and alleged extortion reported by trucking operators.
In the Veracruz-Boca del Río area, trucks again gathered near Cabeza Olmeca and the Bicentenario bridges. Traffic remained open during the early morning, although industry representatives said road actions could take place intermittently throughout the day.
CANACAR, HAMOTAC, FEMATRAC, and other trucking organizations are taking part in negotiations with federal authorities to address the industry’s main concerns.
The duration of the strike will depend on progress in those talks, meaning road conditions and disruptions may change during the day.
