Processing times for new IMMEX registrations could be reduced from three or four months to no more than 30 days through a new dedicated service window, according to Index Zona Costa BC.
The process can currently take several months because federal authorities must review and validate extensive documentation and company information.
Mexico’s IMMEX program allows eligible companies to temporarily import goods and production inputs for manufacturing or export services, subject to specific compliance and re-export requirements.
The industry group said shorter processing times could help facilitate new investment, particularly in export-oriented manufacturing hubs such as Baja California.
Index also emphasized that IMMEX registration and tax certification are separate procedures. Mexico’s Economy Ministry oversees the IMMEX program, while the SAT tax authority administers certifications tied to certain fiscal benefits.
The new service window is intended to streamline application reviews and reduce administrative delays for companies seeking to join the program.
