Mexico Targets Return Visits After the 2026 World Cup

Mexico’s Ministry of Tourism has launched “They Came for the World Cup, They’ll Return for Mexico,” a campaign designed to encourage international travelers who visited during the 2026 tournament to come back and explore more of the country.

The campaign will run across digital platforms and social media, highlighting destinations throughout Mexico’s 32 states. Its promotional materials will feature beaches, cities, heritage towns, local cuisine, cultural traditions and other travel experiences.

Tourism Minister Josefina Rodríguez Zamora said the initiative aims to sustain the international attention generated by the tournament and turn it into additional visits over the coming years.

The ministry has invited Mexican embassies, diplomatic offices, state governments, business groups and tourism organizations to help promote the campaign abroad.

Officials view the World Cup as an opportunity that extends beyond sports, potentially strengthening Mexico’s presence in international tourism markets while introducing travelers to destinations that were not directly involved in hosting the event.
