Mexico remained the world’s leading avocado exporter in 2025, accounting for 40.1% of global export value, according to figures cited by the World Trade Organization.
Mexican avocado exports totaled $3.966 billion, up 3.6% from the previous year and setting a new record for the country’s international avocado sales.
At current exchange levels referenced in the report, that amount is equivalent to roughly 69.3 billion Mexican pesos.
Other major exporters included the Netherlands, with 14.5% of the global market; Peru, with 13.8%; Spain, with 5.8%; and Chile, with 4.0%.
Looking ahead, the U.S. Department of Agriculture projects Mexico’s avocado production will reach 2.80 million tons in 2026, a 3% increase from 2025 and another potential record high.
While Mexico continues to lead the market, several other top exporters posted faster growth rates, including Spain, Chile, the Netherlands and Peru.
In Mexico, a large share of avocado orchards still depends on seasonal rainfall, though growers are increasingly adopting pressurized irrigation systems to support productivity and water management.
