Mexico Extends Deadline for Electronic Import Value Declarations

Mexico’s Tax Administration Service and National Customs Agency have extended the deadline for filing electronic customs value declarations to September 30, 2026.

The extension gives importers and other foreign trade operators additional time to adopt the new system and update their internal procedures.

The electronic declaration is used to report the customs value of imported goods. That amount provides the basis for calculating taxes such as value-added tax and excise duties.

The revised deadline was included in a preliminary update to Mexico’s 2026 General Foreign Trade Rules.

The changes also streamline the filing process. Importers will no longer need to submit transport documents, certificates of origin, or guarantee records when those files are linked to the customs entry.

The E15 form, which contains general information about contracts associated with the declaration, may also be submitted without using Mexico’s Single Window for Foreign Trade.
