Mexico has authorized beef imports from Paraguay after selected processing facilities met the sanitary requirements established by Mexico’s food safety and animal health authority, SENASICA.
The approval follows an evaluation process that included inspections of Paraguayan meatpacking plants by Mexican officials from May 18 to May 26, 2026. SENASICA and Paraguay’s animal health agency later held technical meetings to address findings and complete the review.
The authorization gives Paraguay access to another market for one of its largest export products. Paraguayan beef exports totaled approximately $1.12 billion between January and July 2026.
Paraguayan authorities said 10 processing plants were initially cleared for shipments to Mexico and that the required health certificate has already been approved.
Sanitary approval does not determine how much beef will ultimately be traded. Actual shipments will depend on demand, commercial conditions, and compliance with Mexico’s import requirements.
For Mexican importers, Paraguay’s approval adds another potential source of foreign beef supply.
