US Issues Preliminary Dumping Finding on Mexican Strawberries

The U.S. Department of Commerce has preliminarily determined that some Mexican strawberry exports were sold in the United States below their normal value during the winter season.

The investigation began in late 2025 following a petition from Florida growers. U.S. officials calculated preliminary dumping margins ranging from 3.37% to 5.28%, depending on the company, with an estimated 4.83% rate for most Mexican exporters.

The Mexican government has challenged the methodology and warned that a final ruling could affect nearly 5,000 growers, most of them small producers, as well as a supply chain supporting about 151,000 jobs.

Mexico exported roughly 263,000 metric tons of strawberries to the United States in 2025, valued at about $1 billion.

The case is not yet final. The Commerce Department must complete its investigation, while the U.S. International Trade Commission will separately determine whether the imports harmed domestic producers.
