Mexican Businesses Expect Father’s Day Sales Boost

Mexico’s organized retail sector expects sales to rise by 7% for Father’s Day compared with last year.

The Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism estimates the celebration could generate more than 48 billion pesos in economic activity. Average household spending is projected at about 2,200 pesos.

The business group said the date offers an opportunity to support domestic consumption, particularly through local, family-owned and formal businesses.

Restaurants, movie theaters, live entertainment venues, clothing and footwear stores, and electronics retailers are expected to see some of the strongest demand. Around 3.6 million economic units could benefit from the occasion.

Citing national data, the organization noted that Mexico has 22.1 million men who identify as fathers, with an average age of 47. It also reported that 1.1 million men identify as single fathers.

Concanaco Servytur said purchases made through formal businesses can support employment, national income and broader economic activity.
