Mexico Auto Output and Exports Fall in June


Mexico’s light-vehicle production and exports declined in June 2026, while domestic sales posted year-over-year growth, according to data from the country’s national statistics agency, Inegi.

The Administrative Registry of the Light Vehicle Automotive Industry reported 126,902 vehicles sold in Mexico during June, up 7.7% from the same month in 2025.

Manufacturers produced 354,221 light vehicles, a 1.9% annual decline. Exports fell more sharply, dropping 9.2% to 301,009 units.

From January through June, Mexico produced 1.996 million light vehicles and exported 1.689 million units. Domestic sales reached 754,518 vehicles during the first half of the year.

Light trucks accounted for 79.6% of total production during the six-month period, with passenger cars making up the remaining 20.4%. The United States remained Mexico’s leading export market, receiving 75.9% of vehicle exports, followed by Canada, Germany and Brazil.
