Mexico’s annual inflation rate rose to 3.26% in August 2026, up from 3.12% in July, according to the country’s statistics agency, INEGI.
The Consumer Price Index increased 0.20% from the previous month. Agricultural prices were among the main contributors, rising 0.78% on a monthly basis.
Onions posted the largest increase at 32.7%, followed by serrano peppers at 19.61%. Lime prices rose by roughly 11%, while eggs increased 8.91%.
Some categories moved in the opposite direction. Potatoes and other tubers fell 10.66%, avocados declined 6.71%, LPG prices dropped 2.20%, and chicken prices decreased 1.72%.
Core inflation, which excludes some of the most volatile components, rose 0.16% month over month and stood at 3.88% annually.
