Mother’s Day boosts economic activity in Mexico City

Mother’s Day remains one of the most commercially significant dates in Mexico City. According to estimates from the National Chamber of Commerce (Canaco), May 10 is expected to generate strong economic activity driven by increased consumer spending.

Several sectors see a noticeable rise in sales, particularly those tied to dining, retail, flowers, clothing, electronics, and gift items. This surge reflects the tradition of celebrating mothers through family gatherings, presents, and shared experiences.

Canaco highlights that the occasion plays a key role in supporting formal businesses, encouraging domestic consumption and driving customer traffic to shopping centers, local markets, and service providers. Both small businesses and large retailers benefit from the seasonal demand.

Despite broader economic conditions, Mother’s Day continues to stand out as one of the most important dates for commerce in the city.
