Power supply failures disrupted part of Mexico’s customs technology infrastructure for two days, according to the Tax Administration Service and the National Customs Agency.
The problems began on September 14 and affected several SAT servers, causing intermittent access to the system used to generate the DODA, an electronic document that consolidates information from one or more customs entries.
Connectivity was restored later that day, but additional disruptions were reported on September 15 between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Authorities said the system was fully restored afterward.
The interruptions led to freight delays and long truck lines at crossings including Nuevo Laredo, Matamoros, and Reynosa-Pharr. In Laredo, local authorities temporarily restricted additional trucks from entering the queue for International Bridge III.
SAT and ANAM said contingency procedures were activated to keep customs clearance moving while the systems were affected. DODA services are now operating normally.
Preliminary reports point to economic losses from the delays, although no official amount has been released.
